Si Hing Russell Porter

I joined the Logan Wing Chun Academy in February 2006 after seeing a demonstration of Wing Chun by the L.W.C.A at a local restaurant during Chinese New Year celebrations. I was impressed with the speed of Wing Chun attacks and the apparent lack of brute force required to overcome an opponent.

“I was always shorter than my friends and needed a Martial Art system that would not rely on size or strength to overcome any potential attacker.
I have worked as an accountant since 1987 and had no previous Martial Art training.

In January 2008, I was promoted to Si Hing (Trainee Instructor). The Trainee Instructor course has helped me greatly, giving me an opportunity to continue to refine my own techniques.
Wing Chun has helped my coordination and self confidence, and I have met a great group of people along the way.

Si Jai Sue Mc Farlane.

I am a registered nurse and midwife. I became interested in Wing Chun over 4 years ago when training with Instructor James as a Personal Training client. As my fitness increased I began looking for more activity avenues.

I was introduced to Wing Chun. I had looked at other Martial Art options but found them to be hard on the body and lacked in mental stimulation.
I found that Wing Chun has increased my fitness levels, provides mental stimulation, has increased my self confidence and self defense abilities and I have also formed some wonderful friendships.

Training as a Si Jai has been a journey of self discovery. I enjoy teaching and seeing everyone develop their Wing Chun skills and feel that Wing Chun has a lot to offer both children and adults. I enjoy being part of the L.W.C.A. family and look forward to many years of training in this amazing art.
